July 2001

Why are we doing this?
Two reasons: one,  we don't ever seem to have any money left over for home improvements, and two: it's time I cleaned house and got rid of these things,  instead of storing it in the old camper.  Which is now our storage shed.
My husband, Steve and I are the same age, 51.  He is retired from the Air Force and we live on his retirement pay.  Back in 1993 he had his first heartattack, we are still paying that 20% the insurance didn't cover.  In 1998 he had his second one.  Once again that 20% got us.  He's doing better now days, but still has to take it easy out in the heat and humidity of summer.   He can't get a job because of that and the fact that when they see 'Heartattack' on the application, they won't take the risk and hire him.  I don't work outside the home because we live out in the country and nobody would be here to call 911 if he ever had another one.  He's usually unconscience when it happens.  I was working for awhile, but got fired because I was so worried about him having another one, while I was gone, I wasn't paying that much attention when they were training me.   So I'm in a dilema, I need to be working for the extra income, but I worry about him so much.  So I came up with this idea.  I hope to make enough to get  the home improvements we desperately need.
If your wondering where all this came from.  It came from auctions.  It's the things we didn't need.  We only buy what we can use or need,  sometimes we get more boxes than just the one.  I know what you are thinking, if we didn't go to the Auctions, we'd save enough to make the home improvements. Actually, because of the auctions, we have made some small improvements.  Besides,  auctions are a way for us to get out of the house and say  'HI' to friends.  We don't even go when it's to hot and humid because of Steve.
I hope you stop by often, I am adding new items all the time and soon I will start on our storage shed. (The old Camper)  I've been surprised just how much we have collected, amazing how it adds up so quickly.  Thanks for your support.  Children, please get permission from your parents if you find anything you are interested in, and have them email me.

Sincerely,
Charla Holtschneider

Update: December, 2001....well the old camper is now the "Yard Sale".   It sure looks alot better than it did before, even tho' everything is still in boxes.   We did manage to get a aluminum shed for what was in the camper.  I've added a lot of new items over the last few months.  Thank you again for your support and God Bless.

Update: July 11, 2002....We had a 'real life' yard sale back in May, 2002. We were able to make enough to fix the engine in our riding lawn mower. (it blew up last fall) I think I have finally got caught up with the mowing.  The weeds sure do grow faster than the grass does...LOL My husband doesn't like the riding lawn mower, even though it was bought for him, in the first place.  His legs are to long and cramp up on him...so lucky me...I get to use it...LOL  You do NOT want to see me after an afternoon of mowing.  Trust me.  LOL   Thank you for your continued support...God Bless

My friends tell me that I should put this Newspaper Article in here, ..they have been bugging me for a year now. I'm not to keen on the idea, but they seem to think it would be great. So if you would like to read an article that was written just after I started My Yard Sale in July of 2001, and appeared in our local Newspaper, The Guthrie News Leader.
Click Here...use your browsers back button when you are finished to return back here. It's a large photo, so it will take a few minutes to load.  Just a note here, it's impossible now, to stop by and see the items. They are all  packed in boxes.

Update: March 25, 2003.....Finally,  I have all the photo's made smaller so they load faster, all but the Newspaper one.  I only have a few more new old items to add....for now.....LOL I think I'm finally all caught up.

June, 2003 Update: Took a big step and opened a Antiques Booth at Town & Country Antiques & More in downtown Guthrie, OK.

October 18, 2004....Major..Major Update. My own domain name and this new site! I'm hoping this will let people find me online easier. I'm also able to have the prices on the items. My new booth at Town & Country Antiques & More has generated enough money for me to get this upgrade. We still need a different home, a newer one. Hopefully maybe next year.

Thats the update this time....thanks again for ALL your support, it means a lot to us. God Bless.
